IBM Drops Windows Vista for Linux
It is officially confirmed that IBM will not install Windows Vista no matter Windows Vista will be released on time or not. According to LinuxForum 2006, IBM will completely switch to Linux desktops in Germany. This is definitely a significant blow for Microsoft as Microsoft is facing more and more obstacles before this software giant releases her long-waited operating system.
According to Andreas Pleschek from IBM, “IBM has cancelled their contract with Microsoft as of October this year. That means that IBM will not use Windows Vista for their desktops. Beginning from July, IBM employees will begin using IBM Workplace on their new, Red Hat-based platform. Not all at once - some will keep using their present Windows versions for a while. But none will upgrade to Vista.”
Microsoft is now facing the challenges that she never meet before.
